Upper Deck And Eagles Of America Will Produce Rare Coin Trading Cards: Series 1 to be Released in November 2007
Midland Park, New Jersey (PRWEB) July 25, 2007 -- Eagles Of America, a division of West Highland Fine Art & Publishing, LLC, announced today that it will release the Inaugural Edition of Rare Coin Trading Cards on November 1, 2007. Designed and manufactured by The Upper Deck Company of Carlsbad, California, the world's #1 sportscard innovator, "Series 1" will feature a sweepstakes containing 10,000 Prize Cards highlighted by a United States 1907 "High Relief" $20 Double Eagle gold coin (value $25,000), an 1875-1878 U.S. Trade Dollar (value $15,000) and a 1799-1801 U.S. Bust Dollar (value $15,000.) All three coins have been graded and certified by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS.) Series 1 will consist of 1,000,000 packs of 10 foil-wrapped cards.
"The U.S. Mint estimates there are now more than 100 million coin collectors," stated EOA President Les Fox. "However, most people only collect State Quarters, Presidential Dollars, Lincoln Cents and modern issues. They have never seen America's historic rarities, such as the 1787 Brasher Dubloon, the 1804 Silver Dollar, or the famed 1913 Nickel which recently changed hands for $5,000,000."
Series 1 includes 500 different U.S. coins from 1776 to 1976, with a few coins dating even earlier, such as the 1652 Pine Tree Shilling, a Colonial Massachusetts coin. "Many coins are extremely valuable, which is why the cards will appeal to coin collectors. Yet some coins, like 2 Cent, 3 Cent and 20 Cent pieces are surprisingly affordable in circulated condition. We believe that Eagles Of America Rare Coin Trading Cards will create millions of new serious collectors."
EOA's Rare Coin Trading Cards is a unique idea conceived and developed by Fox, a New York Times bestselling author and one of America's top rare coin experts for over 35 years.
"Every pack of trading cards contains a "Lucky Penny" Lincoln Cent card, an extra thick card housing a genuine 1930's to 1970's one-cent coin in Uncirculated or "mint condition." Most of these pennies are worth only a few dollars, but some could be worth hundreds or thousands. Fox personally bought 1,000,000 pennies - in original rolls and bags - in order to make this unprecedented offer. "Pennies have been given away before," he noted. "But promoters have always used brand new pennies worth only 1 cent each. We're including real collectible coins in every pack."
Other prizes include cards personally autographed by the artists who designed America's Bicentennial coins, plus PCGS certified coins encapsulated with the original ink signatures of Presidents Gerald R. Ford and George H.W. Bush (obtained by Fox directly from the Presidents) an all expenses paid vacation to the Smithsonian National Museum in Washington, D.C., plus hundreds of vintage Silver Dollars and Gold Coins.
"This is a very exciting new product," said Sue Fox, co-owner of Eagles Of America. "Les has been an avid coin collector since 1957, when he was only 10 years old. We've published 7 books about rare coins, but it's always been his dream to bring millions of new collectors into the hobby."
Complete details of the program are available online at www.EaglesOfAmerica.com.
"This is a No Purchase Necessary sweepstakes," explained Sue. "Anyone can enter to win the prizes. But it's a lot more fun if you're also collecting the rare coin trading cards. These cards are absolutely beautiful. We are confident they will appeal to the general public as much as to coin collectors. And we're hoping to see them in thousands of retail stores, including places like Wal-Mart and CVS Pharmacy, as well as banks."
In 1998, the Foxes wrote and published "The Beanie Baby Handbook", which sold 4,000,000 copies and was distributed in 50,000 stores.
