Tech Coast Venture Network Teaches Entrepreneurs How to Calculate Pre-Money Valuation
Irvine, Calif. (PRWEB) October 19, 2007 -- Tech Coast Venture Network's October Forum will present a panel of experienced seed and angel investors and a valuation expert who will discuss what is arguably the most contentious issue for entrepreneurs -- the "pre-money" valuation, that is, the value of the enterprise before the sought-after investment. The Tech Coast Venture Network's forum will be at the offices of Knobe Martens Olson & Bear LLP in Irvine, Calif. on October 25, 2007 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
According to Bart Greenberg, TCVN chairman and partner at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, the panel will address such issues as the effect of the pre-money valuation and why it is such a difficult subject; the criteria that early-stage investors and VCs use to determine the pre-money valuation; whether the issue should be of equal importance to the entrepreneur and the investors; and strategies for overcoming differences and making the investment process a "win-win" proposition, among others. "It is a great opportunity for both investors and entrepreneurs to learn more about the different approaches to valuation and, in particular, useful strategies to bridge the so-called valuation gap," Greenberg added.
Panel members include:
? Steven Mednick, assistant professor of clinical entrepreneurship, USC Marshall, Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. Mednick comes to USC with over 25 years experience working with early stage businesses to large, complex global enterprises in the areas of corporate ventures, business development, sales leadership and corporate law.
