New Cognos Podcast Explores Greening of Performance Management; BI Radio Interviews Andrew Winston, Best-Selling Author of 'Green to Gold'

The three-part episode features an interview with Andrew Winston, best-selling author of 'Green to Gold' and founder of Winston Eco-Strategies, a consulting firm that works with Fortune 500 companies on using environmental thinking to innovate and profit.

Entitled 'Performance Management Goes Green,' the podcast focuses on the link between changing climate and changing business conditions, and the new green metrics that managers need in their performance management scorecards.

Commenting on what he calls 'The Green Wave,' Winston describes the new ways companies can cut costs, reduce risks, and build brand value by applying an environmental lens to their operations, and the role that performance management technologies can play in achieving these goals:

"Most companies have almost no data on their environmental footprint," he tells BI Radio. "They can close their financial books in a day and tell you their cash flow to the penny. But if you ask them how much energy all their facilities used last month, they have no idea. I think that's an incredible opportunity for tools to help them get a handle on it and manage to it."
