Gerard J Washburn wrote Beastly Son to help himself overcome grief and to use a constructive means for fighting the overwhelming atmosphere that Parkinson's Disease rudely bestows. Since the first day of picking up pen and paper, life has been full of wonderful surprises. The greatest, he has stated, is being able to contribute in helping others rather than receiving.

Gold Valley Publications, a company founded by Gerard's wife Rebecca, is dedicated to helping find a cure for Parkinson's Disease by publishing Gerard's books; Beastly Son, The Wolf Whisperer and We Don't Know You, along with other potentially great works of literature.

August 2006, Gold Valley Publications has stepped out of the baby's crib and has provided a light in the hearts of High School students via Gerard's presentations. Future plans are to provide tapes/CDs for High Schools'/Colleges' literature classes which will provide motivation and inspiration for guiding our young adults into the world of literature, with a positive outlook to the future.
